uA741 protection diodes

Hi,

I am performing some basic tests to the uA741 op-amp and I tried to do the continuity test to check for protection diodes, but my results showed that there is no protection.

Would you please tell me if this particular op-amp has protection diodes and if there is a schematic diagram for testing for continuity?

Hello Leslie,

The uA741 doesn't have protection diodes. If you'd like to see a full schematic check out the datasheet on page 2.

Thanks for your previous reply.

We have confirmed that the input pins do not have protection diodes, but we did the continuity test on the output (applying 100uA at it and measuring the voltage) and we are getting a value around 0.7 V. This seems to indicate that there is some kind of protection diode at the output.

Is this a protection diode or is this something else?

Leslie,

The output does not contain protection diodes either. I'm unsure exactly what you may be measuring but it should just be the internal response to being back powered by the meter.
