INA826: Alternative for AD8226BRMZ-R7

Part Number: INA826
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA821, INA819

Hi Team,

Could you pls recommend a device to replace AD8226BRMZ-R7 with 0.1% Gain error @ G = 5 to 1000? Thanks

Regards,

Hailiang

  • Hi Hailiang,

    Could you pls recommend a device to replace AD8226BRMZ-R7 with 0.1% Gain error @ G = 5 to 1000?

AD8226BRMZ-R7's drop in replacement is INA826.

The gain errors in INA826 is captured in the table below.

Below is the inventory status in ti e-store.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

  • Hi Raymond,

My customer stated that the maximum gain error (@ G = 5 to 1000) should not exceed 0.1%. So, I wonder if there are better options.

  • Hi Hailiang,

If you are considering the max. gain error < 0.1%, then we may have to go with INA819 or INA821 IA.

Both INA819 or INA821 are suitable for the requirements, but it comes with a higher cost (INA826 is low cost part). As the drop in replacement against AD, we have to take into account of package selection and Rg gain pin positions. INA819's SON package is not in stock currently, but INA821 is, see the captured image below.

Hmm, even INA821 or INA819 will not meet the <0.1% requirements. Let me check it further. What is the sensing application?

  • Hi Hailiang,

AD8226BRMZ-R7 instrumentation amplifier (IA) comes with 2 grades from screening the product lot, it seems that %gain-error parameter is a part of grading parameters. AD8226BRMZ-R7 is priced at $3.50/1ku from mouser.com.

TI's INA826, INA819 and INA821 IAs do not use the specific grading system in final product lot. Without grading out the distribution of better %Gain-error part in INA826, our part is significant cheaper than AD8226BRMZ-R7.  At TI e-store, INA826AIDRGR is priced at $1.057/1ku vs. $$3.50/1ku (mouser.com).

If you are looking at the overall %gain-error contributed parameters, you will see that our gain vs. temperature and Gain Nonlinearity specification are significantly better than  AD8226BRMZ-R7, see the captured image below.

In addition, we are typically recommending Rg gain resistor with 1% tolerance that is used in an IA application. For a lower %Gain-error application, 0.1% tolerance precision resistor is recommended. However, the IA application is unable to achieve 0.1% overall Gain-errors as datasheet specified in a real world application, say at gain = 1000 V/V.

For apple to apple comparisons, it will be the best to characterize the performance of either parts in customer's PCB that is tested in a real world conditions. Since INA826 is a direct drop-in replacement, this is really easy to compare the performance of the two different suppliers. If INA826 exceeds or equals to the performance of AD8226BRMZ-R7, it will be easier to pick a winner.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.
