INA220: Repeated start condition in fast mode

Part Number: INA220

Hello, TI Support Team.

I'm trying to use the INA220 with an I2C controller that uses repeated start condition in fast mode.
In the INA220 data sheet, there was a description of repeated start condition in high-speed mode.
However, I was wondering if the INA220 supports repeated start condition in fast mode.
Would you tell me if the INA220 support repeated start condition in fast mode?

Best regards,

Osamu Onodera

  • Hello Onodera-san,

The reason repeated start is only discussed for high-speed mode in the datasheet is because you have to use repeated start to keep the device in high-speed mode. However, I have used repeated start for some of our devices in fast mode and it has worked just fine. I do not believe I have tested this for the INA220 specifically, but I think it would work. I can run a test with an INA220 to double check, but it will take at least a day or two before I can get back to you with results.

    Regards,

    Mitch

  • Hello Onodera-san,

I'm glad you were able to figure it out. We were able to double check, and the INA220 works as expected when using repeated start in fast mode.
