INA230: Repeated Start Condition

Part Number: INA230

Hello,

Does INA230 support repeated start condition in I2C interface?
Is there any restriction for repeated start usage?
I mean can any successive read or write access for any registers be executed with repeated start condition?
Is there any register access case that absolutely requires STOP condition instead of Repeated Start condition?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hello Oba,

Thanks for considering to use Texas Instruments. The device does support repeated start. In fact you can find specifications for the repeated start hold time in the “Bus timing diagram definitions” table beneath figure 28 in the datasheet. According to the datasheet there is no specific special register that requires different treatment than the other registers for a repeated start condition or a stop condition. The only restriction I see for repeated start appears to be with high-speed I2C mode. In that case the repeated start should use the same timing as the start condition.
