LMH6881: additional info for programming

Part Number: LMH6881
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Please update the datasheet with this information.

The address field is in HEX, meaning the Register3 address is 0011.

The write bit is logic 0, and the read bit is logic 1.

Thank You,

  • Hello Tamir,

Thank you for pointing this issue out to us. We are looking into why this information was not updated since the original thread.

    Best Regards,
    Sima

  • Hello Tamir,

We appreciate the sharing of information on normal use and operation of the LMH6881.  As you may have found, the use of USB2ANY in the TI EVM resulted in the potential for documentation ambiguity when utilizing SPI communication directly with the LMH6881.  Your post (& the previous post) are available and searchable by the community; engineers who wish to check their understanding of SPI can refer to these threads and be confirmed in their experience.

We are always considering proper informed context when designing current parts & new datasheets; we strive to improve the clarity and robustness of TI datasheets as we iterate and define new ICs.

Please let us know if there are additional issues or questions you may have.

    Best,

    Alec

  • Hello Alec,

I use only the LMH6881 datasheet, and I expect a company at the TI level to be very precise and clear, so as a design engineer, I won't need to guess or search for anything. For me, it was a waste of time.

I can accept human errors, but it seems that this information was omitted in advance

all I asking for is to add this necessary info to the datasheet.

    Thank You

  • Hello Tamir,

I appreciate your candor and your feedback.  Our customer's time is valuable to us also; while I was not involved in the LMH6881 part or its datasheet, I am taking consideration of your remarks into my involvement in current & future TI HSAMPs devices.  As a tinkering engineer and hobbyist, the value of good documentation is very high.  While not all pieces of relevant technical information can be fully explored in a device datasheet, there is a balance of inclusion regarding material fundamental to device operation.

As an interim & interactive measure: please use this forum to communicate questions and establish note of important items regarding HSAMPs devices.  Thank you again Tamir.

    Best,

    Alec
