INA301-Q1: Regarding REF pin

Part Number: INA301-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA301

Hi support team.

I ask you about REFpin for INA301-Q1.

What terminal does the "REF pin" refer to?

Best regards,

Higa

  • Hello Higa,

For the INA301 the REF pin is connected to GND.  I will get some information from some team members to confirm but you can assume this is a added text that does not apply to the INA301 as it does not have the Ref pin.  This is for a family of devices and the other devices have a Ref pin. If this is incorrect I will submit for the text to get fixed.

  • Hi Contreras-san

    Thank you for answering.

INA301 also does not have REF pin, is incorrect?

I think that the reference for ALEAR output is voltage set by Rset is'nt GND.

    Higa

  • Hello Daisuke,

Normally we consider the REF pin the voltage set for bipolar devices.  This sets the analog output center point when the current is zero for bi-directional measurements.  The INA301 is a unidirectional device.

The author could have meant the Rset pin like you mentioned but that would be digital input only to determine latch mode or transparent mode.  Like you mentioned if this stays in latch mode then you could have the output alarm at start up and stay alarmed.  I will reach out to confirm.
