Hi,

Our customer inquired about "variation in gain with temperature of the TRF37A73IDSGR". The temperature range is -20°C to 60°C.
Customer says it's OK to use simulation instead of actual data, so I tested it with TINA-TI, and it doesn't seem to change with temperature.
Can the simulation model handle temperature changes?

    Hi Hiroshi,

         TINA model cannot handle temperature variation. 
         What is the frequency band customer intends to use this at?
         From datasheet you can expect at least 1dB of gain variation over entire range.

    Hi Hruday-san,

    There are only two frequencies, 918MHz and 919.2MHz, without modulation.

    Additional inquiries from customers.

    The gain temperature change is TYP 1dB, but can you estimate the Max/Min of the variation?
    Guaranteed values are not required. It's ok to just guess.
    If possible, I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice based on the design data and quality control information.

    Customers want to know the theoretical temperature variation as their product.

    Hi Hiroshi,

    since there's no specification of the maximum gain variation versus temperature and gain variation from chip to chip at room temperature in the datasheet, you can only guess. I would guess as follows: SInce the supply current can change from 55mA to 65mA which represents a variation of about 1.5dB, I would guess that the gain can vary by about +/-1.5dB from chip to chip at room temperature. Added to the conservatively estimated +/-0.5dB variation from figure 2, I would expect a total gain variation of up to +/-2dB.

    But again, this is only a wild guess! If I would like to know the real gain variation I would take a handful of chips ordered from different vendors and would perform some measurements in the oven.

    Hi Hiroshi,

        Upon Pulling the Validation data, Gain Variation is around is 0.15 dB at Room temperature and 0.2dB at Hot. Since the customer using at 918MHz, and b/w -20C to 65C, I would say the max gain variation = 0.5dB + 0.15dB+ 0.2dB = 0.85dB. By considering enough margin we I do not expect it to vary more than 1dB.
