Hello e2e forum,
For customers using ISO15118 / HomePlug GreenPHY for EV, EVSE, and/or SE charging designs, please be aware of the following: TI HSAMPs ICs can be implemented as a line driver for your EV charging system, whether onboard the vehicle or as a stationary charging infrastructure element.
Capable line driver (and current feedback amplifier) devices, such as the OPA2675, have high output current (1A for OPA2675), large gain-bandwidth product (730MHz for OPA2675), and can be instrumental in enhancing an EV-charging design.
Major HomePlug GreenPHY (HPGP) ASICs either do not ship with a recommended line driver or ship with a separate basic low-gain line driver to provide essential functionality. A primitive CMOS line driver will not add much capability unless the ASIC has no ability to output without one. A TI HSAMPs line driver can transform the ordinary output capability of the HPGP ASIC into a more robust product. The Qualcomm QCA700x devices (like QCA7005 & QCA7006), Lumissil IS32CG5317, and VertexCom MSE1021/2 HPGP devices are common considerations for HPGP designs. The addition of the OPA2675 into the signal chain at the output of the ASIC provides functionality: TI's OPA2675 enables longer cable distances, better distortion performance, and reliable manufacturing and product support.
- For EVs: the addition of a TI line driver enables interoperability with any cable length, non-ideal charging scenario, or future use of HPGP standard.
- For SEs: the supply equipment benefits from longer transmission distances, better distortion performance at bandwidth compared to lower GBWP devices, and higher output drive capability.
Across the growth of EV and EVSE designs, there should be consideration for how automobiles and vehicle infrastructure are designed: these products have long lifetimes and need to be amendable or accommodating to new technologies and challenges. By considering TI HSAMPs OPA2675 and other line driver ICs, the reliability and longevity of EV and EVSE charging designs has greater potential.
If you at all have any questions about utilizing TI HSAMPs for your line driver, current-feedback amplifier, or other analog signal chain needs, please reach out via E2E forum or to your TI Sales and Field team.
We are excited to answer questions and build enthusiasm for adopting parts such as the OPA2675 into emerging technologies. We are here to help!
