XTR117: constant current solution for current loop

Part Number: XTR117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR111

Hi,

Customer RD survey solution current loop. Frequency: 10KHz ~25KHz, 0: 33us/66us, 1: 66us/33us,  H: 26mA, L: 0mA.

The currently solution is used discrete constant current circuit.  Has passed XTR117 to RD. RD thinks that he only needed constant constant current solution.

Is there any suggestion for this application?

Thanks & best regards,

  • The XTR117 is designed to be powered from the loop, so it is not possible to go below about 130 µA.

The XTR111 is able to switch between 0 mA and 26 mA, but it has so many features that it probably does not reduce complexity compared to a discrete constant-current implementation.

  • Hi David,

XTR111 solution may work as Clemens suggested, but you need to provide us the available voltage supply and type of load for the application. In fact, there are several other V-to-I solutions for the application.

Here is another one based on Howland Current topology. I did not configure the duty cycle per your requirements, but it will work for the frequency range. We have other precision op amps that you may select from, if the cost is a concern. You need to provide us the additional design requirements.

    OPA192 E2E 26mA Is 03162023.TSC

    Best,

    Raymond
