Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA121, INAEVM
Hi team,
I know that INA116 is a very old device. But is there any Gerber files available or recommended PCB layout for it?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Aida

HI Aida,
The INA116 is a legacy device and it is not recommended for new designs. The INA121 FET input, low power, instrumentation amplifier is a possible replacement.
The INA121 has lower offset and higher CMRR with half the power consumption:

The link below offers a comparison between INA116 vs INA121:
We offer a INAEVM universal instrumentation amplifier evaluation module that can be used to evaluate the INA121 the INAEVM User guide offer a good example of a PCB layout.

Hi Luis,
Thank you for response and all shared materials.
My client chose INA116 to use on one of the testing boards due to it's low bias current, current noise and Guard pins. I couldn't find any other amplifier with these characteristics. So I assume INA116 is the only one, and there are no any materials?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Aida
Hi Aida,
The INA116 is the lowest input current instrumentation amplifier. The other instrumentation amplifiers in the portfolio have input bias currents in the picoamps, or nanoamps range, so they offer higher input bias currents. Other than the INA116, the lowest input bias current devices available is the FET-input INA121 - supporting ±18V supplies, offering low input bias current in the ±4pA current. Unfortunately, the INA116 is a legacy device from about 30 years ago, and it is not recommended for new designs.
Thank you and Regards,
Luis
