Hello Brian,
Could you elaborate on what aspects of the THS6222 you would need in a higher temp amp?
For example:
Package Size
Differential Signal Line Driving (both amps used together differentially)
High Power supplies
Current drive target
Distortion target
Please share if any of these, or other specs, are of interest to the solar inverter application. In the meanwhile I will review our portfolio for options to share.
Best,
Alec
Thanks Alec.
In the solar system of 350KW power rating, the ambient temp in the system box would be expected up to 75degree. Customer is adapting TIDA design as below. In which, the THVD8000 + THS6222 are plan to implment.
Application: PLC in 350KW PV Inverter system.
Supply voltage: 12V for THS6222.
Driving capability: The power cable distance between PLC TX and PLC RX is about 400M., it would need higher driving capability.
Diff. LINE: PLC signal is coming from THVD8000
There are two questions here.
1. Is there device with better thermal capability? Do you think THS6222 is able to design on this system?
2. How to estimate the power consumption of the THS6222? and how to estimate its junction temp?

Hello Brian,
Thank you for the expanded details. I will check with our experts on process technologies and design to see if we have any internal guidance on the thermal ceiling for operating the THS6222 as described. As for the estimation of power draw and junction temp, allow me a bit of time to provide a method of doing so.
Best,
Alec
Hello Brian, E2E Forum,
The discussion on thermal performance for THS6222 at high temp (125C) has been moved into a related email chain, offline from the forum. The context for the forum is that on page 5 of the THS6222 datasheet, several notes and tabled values showcase the maximum temperature of the THS6222 junction for various conditions. Additionally, there is a note describing the self-shutdown feature via a thermal diode, which is the mechanism for the THS6222 turning off when approximately 175C is reached at the die junction.
Best,
Alec
