USB2ANY: Firmware Update Failed, Now the device does not connect and no LED

Part Number: USB2ANY
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2592EVM, , TICSPRO-SW

Using the USB2ANY to connect to the LMX2592EVM
- Followed the instructions at: LMX2592EVM High Performance, Wideband PLLatinumTM RF Synthesizer Evaluation Board Operating Instructions
- Connected the USB2ANY to computer
- Loaded the TICSPRO-SW software
- Prompted to update the USB2ANY Firmware
- Firmware update failed.
- Now the USB2ANY does not connect and the LED does not power ON.

I'm thinking the USB2ANY Firmware got wiped somehow, is it possible to reload the firmware with the JTAG ?

  • Hi Ken,

I have paged our software expert. I'm not sure if the device has a JTAG interface.

Here are some ideas in the meantime:

    • Can you see anything related to the USB2ANY in the Device Manager (assuming you're using Windows)?
    • On this thread from last year, a customer was able to use the firmware loader in the discrete USB2ANY SDK to update the device when TICS Pro could not. I think it's worth a shot.

  • Evan,

I believe that Derek is out. Using the USB2ANY Explorer application should allow you to reupload the firmware.

    Thanks,

    Kadeem

  • I installed the USB2ANY Application v2.8.2.0. When I opened the application, I was prompted to reload the Firmware, I then received the following messages.

  • Hi Ken,

So it sounds like the USB2ANY loader is able to find your device and send firmware to it, but not verify the successful installation, and from the main window messages the Explorer cannot locate it. I haven't encountered these problems before. I think we'll have to wait for Derek.

    Best,

    Evan Su

  • I switched to another Windows 10 laptop and was able to successful run the firmware update to completion.
