OP07C: Operating humidity

Part Number: OP07C

HI, Staff

Operating humidity

Please let me know the operation guarantee humidity of OP07CDR.

# Operation guarantee temperature can be determined from "0-70℃" described in the data sheet, but there is no description regarding humidity.
# I know the humidity level for storage at the MSL level, but please tell me the humidity regulation during operation.

best regards
cafain

  • Hi Cafain-san,

Please let me know the operation guarantee humidity of OP07CDR.

OP07CDR's MSL is rated to Level 1, which means that the molding material is not sensitive to moisture absorption under a stated condition. The table below is said that floor life is unlimited under nominal storage condition, specified at 30C at 85%RH, non-moisture condensing storage environment.

The humidity operating range in ICs are not typically stated, because the moisture levels in typical ICs do not affect the specified performance published in the datasheet (typically, IC's performance is not a dependent on moisture of the molding compounds). If it does, the datasheet will specify the importance of the related parameters (like overvoltage, overcurrent, ESD etc.). Humidity sensor's datasheet is one of an example, since its performance is dependent on the moisture level of an environment during operation.

The molding material or epoxy molding compounds are hermetically sealed or encapsulated against moisture for the specific storage period under a control storage environment, especially for the MSL #1 molding material. If the non-operational state has unlimited floor life, the operating state will have less of issues, which the operating temperature may be higher than 30C, and should not have moisture absorption issues under the specified 0-70C operating temperature in the part.

When the molding compounds are exposed to higher temperature in an open atmosphere, the molding materials should have lower moisture content issues (surface moisture absorption, and bulk material moisture absorption). For MSL level other than 1, IC baking in a controlled temperature chamber is the recommended method to drive off the surface and/or bulk absorbed moisture contents, if the ICs' storage conditions exceeds the recommended floor life or storage environment, see the link below.

MSL ratings are created and regulated for IC's molding compounds when they are exposed to rapid temperature ramp rate at high temperature during the reflow assembly process. Under a normal IC operation, no rapid temperature ramp rate and/or the high temperature levels (>200C) are exposed in a normal operating device or DUT, humidity levels between 0-70C in the OP07CDR op amps do not affect the operational performance specified in the datasheet. Generally, there are no humidity regulation or humidity operating ranges are specified in the IC products, because these are non-issue or humidity levels at the specified temperature range are typically not dependent variables on the performance.
