LM13700: how to bias/ operate from single supply, though the datasheet indicates it is possible

Part Number: LM13700

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

"I'm referring to the circuit in Figure 30 of the LM13700 datasheet- "Voltage Controlled High Pass Filter".  Not sure how to bias/ operate from a single supply, though the datasheet indicates it is possible.

The supply would be 12-18V with a bias point of 1/2 VCC delivered from a voltage follower. I've searched the forums and database."

Thank you for extending your support. Your help is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Marvin

  • The LM13700 does not have a ground pin; it does not care about this.

Figure 30 shoes three supply rails, labelled −15 V, +15 V, and GND = 0 V. But it does not matter how you label these voltages; you can just as well use the lowest one as the ground reference, and call them 0 V, +30 V, and +15 V.

In your application, the output of the voltage follower would be the new virtual ground.
