LMH6572: LMH6572 use on VGA RGB signal 4(input) to 1(output) mux

Part Number: LMH6572
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA3875, TS3V713EL

Hi Experts

We are finding VGA RGB signal 4(input) to 1(output) mux for the server product ,I see the LMH6572 may meet this application.

1. Please double check the application

2. Please provide the reference schematic

3. Please help to check LMH6572 EOL plan

4. Is LHM6572 have 2nd source?

5. Please also check TS3V713ELRTGR EOL plan ,we already design TS3V713ELRTGR on our midplane board. Is TS3V713ELRTGR have 2nd source?

  • Hello,

The LMH6572 does seem like it would be a good fit for your application as it performs as a RGB mux with two inputs in a fixed gain of 2 V/V. The requirement for a 4 to 1 mux is possible by paralleling two of these devices. Figure 20 in the datasheet highlights this configuration, however we do not have any schematic files for this device. I was able to look into the status and was able to confirm that there is no current plan of obsoleting this device and it is active on our website for purchase. As for the second source the closest device we have is the OPA3875. It has very similar functionality with the same package and pin configuration, the major difference being the OPA3875 is a faster part. As for your last question, I would recommend starting a separate thread for the TS3V713EL as it is supported by a different team so they can accurately answer your questions regarding EOL plans and 2nd sources.

  • Hi Ignacio

I have another question. Is V- must connect to negative voltage? We rarely use negative voltage on server product ,can we connect V+ to 5V and V- just connect to GND?

  • Hi Chih-Hua,

Yes, this device can operate in single supply operation, however special precautions must be taken to ensure you are not violating any input voltage ranges as well as the logic thresholds of the device. Section 7.2.1 in the datasheet gives more detail into this configuration and Figure 19 gives the recommended layout for this device in single supply operation.

  • Hi Ignacio
We have a -1.5V VR use on Renasas ISL59446IRZ-T7 V- pin(This is our current RGB mux desgin, but they have EOL plan on this chip receently). Can we also use -1.5V on LMH6572 V- pin? Sorry, I have not much experience on negative voltage application.
    Thanks.

  • Hi Chih-Hua,

Yes, you can connect -1.5V to the negative supply pin. The amplifier has a max supply voltage rating of 13.2V. This means the difference (V+ - (V-)) cannot be greater than 13.2V, however it can operate in that range whether it is a balanced supply or unbalanced supply. As with any configuration ensure the input/output range is not violated and logic thresholds are met. This information can be found on the Electrical Characteristics table in the datasheet.

    Best Regards,
