INA233: conversion time

Part Number: INA233

Hi Expert,

customer found that the EIN of the INA233 could not be read because of the behavior of repeatedly reading the EIN twice in the code, the issue was fixed when we removed the repeatedly reading.

But if the averaging mode is adjusted too high, the sample count read from the EIN will still be 0.

I would like to ask you to provide the timing of the different conversion of EIN according to the averaging mode?

And what is the conversion formula of average power read from EIN?

Regards,

Mark

  • Mark,

I would like to ask you to provide the timing of the different conversion of EIN according to the averaging mode?

The conversion timing of the EIN register should follow the conversions for the VBUS and VSHUNT values. The conversion time should be = (Number of Averages)*((VBUS conversion time) + (VSHUNT conversion time)), so for example the default settings of 1 average and 1.1ms conversion times will result in a new EIN value every 2.2ms.

And what is the conversion formula of average power read from EIN?

The conversion formula to convert the EIN value to average power is found on page 31 of the datasheet:

Since you are interested in the timing, you may also be interested in the conversion ready bit:

The conversion ready bit can be set to trigger the alert pin when the device finishes a conversion, so the alert pin can be tied to the hardware interrupt of a microcontroller to get the data when it arrives.

Let me know if you have any more questions,
