Hi Yannick,
The reason we recommend removing outer/inner planes around the output and inverting input pins is to limit any parasitic along those pins that may result in instability. The performance concern is when the ground is split into multiple sections or where there are islands in the PCB layout that are not connected to a proper plane, therefore we can consider the recommended layout to still have a continuous ground plane.
