ALM2403-Q1: Characterization data for current limit over process variation

Part Number: ALM2403-Q1

Hello,

I was looking to obtain the characterization data for the current limit of this device. The datasheet gives a typical value, but I was looking to provide what the value looks like over process variation. I want to get the data on the sourcing limit specifically, as opposed to the sinking current.

Let me know if you require any additional information and thank you for the assistance.

  • Kyle,

The short-circuit, Isc, current limit of ALM2403-Q1 is mostly a function of junction temperature and not process variation.  At 25 deg C the output stage can source 500mA (see below) but as the junction temperature increases, due to power dissipation inside the package, Isc decreases.

The Vout vs Iout curves shown below tell you the whole story.  At the maximum specified junction temperature of 125 deg C, the maximum sourcing current is about 325mA using 12V supply and 375mA using 24V supply voltage.
