TPA3255 idle and working temperature

Hi,

I've bought the amplifier that is built with TPA3255. I'd like to know the temperature in idle stage and normal working. The unit that I bought when idle stage is like around 50-60 degrees celsius and connects to 8 ohms speaker. The voltage that supplies to amplifier is 36 Volts 5.7Amps. Another thing can I operate 24 hours(during evening till next morning is in idle stage)? I'd like to apply to in indoor factory for PA(public announcement). I'd appreciate if you could help me with my doubts.

Hi L. Sarawut.

Because TPA3255 is a pad-up package structure, it is difficult to determine idle or working problems. The temperature is related to the coefficient of thermal conductive glue and the thickness of thermal conductive glue.

Semiconductor and IC Package Thermal Metrics (Rev. C) (ti.com)

You can combine your parameters to calculate whether the temperature is reasonable under idle and work conditions.

Yes, you can. TPA3255 has a complete protection mechanism which include OCP, OTP and so on. This protects the chip even if something goes wrong during operation.
