PGA309EVM-USB: Sensor Emulator Program Crashing, Windows 10

Part Number: PGA309EVM-USB
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA309

Good Morning,

I am currently trying to work with the PGA309EVM-USB and it's corresponding software (SBOC320). I was able to download the software and communicate with the board, however the only issue I am having is that every time I try and load the sensor emulator the program crashes. I have installed and ran the program as admin, but that still hasn't fixed the issue.

From what I've seen on other posts about the PGA309 it seems like there have been updates to the software, however when I go to the page (https://www.ti.com/tool/download/SBOC320) to download the software the only version available is v1.00.00.0 from 2011. I wasn't sure if there should be other versions listed or if maybe there is some other process to update the software, so any help or advice on getting this working would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time!

  • Dawson,

I am using the same version of software on a "windows 10 pro" operating system and I just completed a successful calibration as well as verification using the sensor emulator tool.   The software has not been updated since 2011.  Below is a power point showing a step by step hardware setup, calibration, and verification with the sensor emulator.  Before looking for an issue with the software (or your windows permissions), I just want to verify that you follow the attachment step-by-step.  You may be doing everything correctly, but I just want to confirm.  If you are doing everything correctly, and still have the issue we can dig into the software.  One simple test would be to try this on a different computer.

I hope we can resolve your issue soon.  Sorry for the difficulty.

  • Hey Art,

Thank you for the quick response, good to know that I have the correct software version. I adjusted the jumpers and followed the powerpoint step by step and while it did initially work the first time I ran the program, if I restarted the program it would crash again when running the sensor emulator.

However, I did also run the software on a different laptop and it worked perfect! So there may be something with the first computer I tried that is causing an issue. If I get the chance I can try to see what may be causing problems on the first computer. There is no issue with using the second computer for testing so that works as a solution for me.

Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it!
