TLV9022-Q1: TLV9022QPWRQ1

Part Number: TLV9022-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV9032-Q1

Dear TI team,

I using comparator TLV9022QPWRQ1 for comparing input sine wave (up to 200 kHz) with constant DC signal. I found that this comparator is working properly till 30 kHz input sine wave. When frequency is increased beyond 30 kHz, output voltage starts clipping below 3.3 V. At 200 kHz input, output waveform rises only up to 2 V (exponentially rises till 2V).

Note: Output of comparator TLV9022QPWRQ1 is connected to 3.3V through 10 k resistor.

Please let me know if TLV9022QPWRQ1 comparator can be used for 200 kHz input waveform, if not please suggest comparator which can work up to 200 kHz input sine waveform preferably with TSSOP-8 package.

Thanks,

Shritesh

  • With an open-drain output, the rise time is limited by the strength of the pull-up resistor.

You could change the resistor (see figure 6-9 for the effect on the VOL). But if you do not need level shifting, use a push/pull comparator like the TLV9032-Q1.

  • Hi Clemens,

Thanks a lot for your quick response and suggestions.

I tried changing the resistor to various values like 20k, 4.7k and 1k. With 20k resistor, waveform deteriorates further. Then I tried changed resistor to 4.7k which improved performance till 100 kHz. With 1k resistor, I am getting pretty good results all the way till 200 kHz.

    Thanks again Clemens.

  • Glad Clemens was able to help you with your issue Shritesh. Let us know if you need any more help.
