TLV8541: Difference between Free Air Temperature Range and Still Air Temperature Range given in the TI Datasheets for ICs

Part Number: TLV8541

Hello,

Greetings!

There are terms "free-air temperature range" and "still-air temperature range" used in the TI datasheets for operating temperature range of Integrated Circuits.

Could you please help me to know the difference between free-air temperature range and still-air temperature range?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,

Pankaj Upadhyay

  • The meaning is the same. If some specification or design required forced-air convection, it would be mentioned explicitly.

For a device with low power dissipation like the TLV8541, such considerations are not necessary.
