Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA229
Hi
I'm looking for current sense IC for 5V@2A rail, controlled by Raspberry PI.
Does INA219 will do?
Thanks,
Moral.

Hi Moral,
This could depend on a few factors such as error, shunt size, and common mode voltage. Fortunately, we have multiple tools that can help us choose both a shunt resistor as well as the correct power monitor for the use case. Firstly is the power monitor tool: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/SBOR021. There is information on how to use it in this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sboa511a/sboa511a.pdf?ts=1695829107173. This tool makes it easy to choose a power monitor depending on various design constraints. Next is the error calculation tool, this will help you gauge and compare devices with various error sources: https://www.ti.com/tool/CS-AMPLIFIER-ERROR-TOOL. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
Best,
Mohamed
Thanks you for the response,
It looks like INA229 will do but I find it hard to understand if it will support 2A current sensing.
Can you advice?
