Dear Sirs,
Is there a very simple way to limit the maximum current the XTR115 can emit - rather than letting it saturate at the 32mA range?
Anywhere between 23 and 26 mA would be fine for what i need.
The input voltage will vary between 11 - 30V.
The external transistor used is FZT853.
The load resistance is upto 500 Ohm.

Hi Carl,
the Iout will always be in the 3-21mA range.
Enclosed is the circuit with the Iout requirements. You would need to watch the current budget very carefully under the no signal condition. The total current within the XTR115 shall not exceed 2.5-2.7mA under no input signal conditions, else you would not achieve Iout = 3mA under the no signal conditions.

therefore the XTR would self-limit (as staed in the datasheet) to around 33mA.
If you are able to implement similar current limiting circuit for BJT driver, you will be able to achieve the objective. The image below is captured on p.13 from XTR111's datasheet, which the external current limiting feature is designed for the mosfet driver.
