Opamp Selecting for Switching DC-DC power supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA290, INA240

Hello, I am working on flyback controller. My circuit frequancy 100kHz, so I have to use very fast opamp for control. I think, INA290 is unsufficient for DC-DC converter designs. Do you recomend any opamp for switching supplies?

  • Hello Salih,

The are two items you need to consider with switching is the location of the node and what is switching.  Most DC-DC measurement points are past the inductor where the voltage does not change much so the INA290 would work.  The only think I have a concern for the INA290 are to things in the datasheet you need to be aware of to make sure they meet your design requirements.  The INA290 has a limited VCM range as it is meant for high side sensing.  The other is the bandwidth vs input shown on the datasheet.  If these are not issues then this could work.

The other options are is using the INA296 no bandwidth vs Vsense.  Bandwidth is close to the INA290.  If you are placing it on a switching node, not recommended, then look at the INA241 or INA240.
