INA200: Is there any problem if Vs is set to 0V with supply applied to VIN+ and VIN-?

Part Number: INA200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA310B

Hi team,

Customer is now considering the shunt option1 case in the following circuit, supply = 48V and Vs =12V.

Is there any problem if Vs is set to 0V with FET switched off  though 48V supply is applplied to Vin+ and Vin-?

As I see the datasheet, maybe there is no problem but customer is concerned about that and would like to confirm.

  • The absolute maximum ratings allow up to 80 V at the inputs, regardless of the supply.

There is an internal bias resistor network, so the input bias currents of up to 16 µA might flow into the inputs and out of the output or GND.

  • Hi Yuto,

Like Clemens said, INA200 allows for input common mode voltages up to 80V, independent of Vs.

As long as GND is connected to make sure there is a common reference point (i.e. not floating) and voltage seen at the inputs doesn't exceed 80V with respect to GND there should be no damage to the device.

    Best Regards,

    Angel

  • Hori-San,

The INA200 is not recommended for new designs.

We have released a P4P upgrade, the INA310B.  If this is a new design, please have your customer converting as soon as possible.

    Thanks, Dan Harmon
