OPA544: the diff withe OPA548, OPA544

Part Number: OPA544
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA548

HI Sir

I use opa544 as a voltage source to test the DUT. There will be current measurement circuit between the lines. Sometimes the current circuit will oscillate, But when replaced with OPA548, the circuit is stable Please advise, thank you

  • Alex,

The e2e forum was delayed because of the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US.

We'll need more information to help with this - instability can be caused by a variety of reasons. The first important questions are:

    1) What are the voltages at the input?  We need to be sure the device is being used within the correct common mode ranges.
    2) What is the load at the output?  What else is connected to the output?  What about capacitance? The OPA544 is a lower current device, it may be going into current limit.
    3) If you add a 1 nF capacitor in parallel with R580, does the problem go away?
    4) Are the devices mounted to a board or heatsink?
    5) What are the supply voltages?

Once we get more information we can begin to narrow down this issue.

    Regards,
    Mike
