INA826EVM feedback: 1 mm between very small soldering points for wires is quite un-practical

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA826EVM

Hi!

I bought an INA826EVM. I needed to change the INA chip itself. But I also needed to attach a potentiometer as Rg (gain regulator resistor). But the soldering points are about or less than 1 mm2, and they are situated about or less than 1 mm apart. I think those are very narrow margins - unnecessarily small. It would be more practical with larger soldering points and a larger distance between them. Thank you. :-)

  • I forgot to show an image of how tiny the soldering points and the distance between them etc. are:

  • Hello Henrik,

Understood, this is not easy to work with.  We do try to minimize the capacitance on the RG node.  The RG node connects directly to the inputs of the INA's first stage amplifiers, which are sensitive to capacitance on some devices, therefore we would not want excessively long traces connected to the RG inputs.  But, agreed this spacing could have been easier.

We'll keep this in mind for future EVMs.

    Best Regards,
    Mike
