AMC1311-Q1: Relationship Between VDD2 and the Fail-Safe Output

Hello, Team,

The datasheet only specifies the failsafe differential output voltage V_FAILSAFE with a condition of VDD1. Also, 7.3.3 only mentions about VDD1 and SHTDN when this fail-safe output occurs.

Does this mean that VDD2 is not related when the fail-safe output is going to be activated? If so, what is the reason behind this?

Hi Masaru-san,

If VDD2 is missing or 0V, then no output can occur from VOUTP and VOUTN. Furthermore, the high side supply monitoring is more valuable as it is often an independent supply for the isolated data converter. There are typically many IC's and ways to monitor the VDD2 rail.
