HI,
My customer find they read alert mask/enable reg back as 0x0800, after power on, Does this make sense to you? Any possible cause?
Thanks,
Zach

Hi Zach,
This value reading on the register would indicate that the Power Over-Limit bit has been set to 1 for the alert pin configuration.
However, if this register is read after power on before configuring the device registers the default/reset value should read 0x0000h.
I would suggest to the customer to first verify if the digital communications are working properly by using either an oscilloscope or a logic analyzer on the I2C lines during the read register command to verify that the register contents are being read properly.
Do they get a read back of 0x0800h every time after power on, or only sometimes? If they do multiple readbacks of the register after power on, are the readings consistently the same value?
Have they tried doing a reset command to see if the register reading changes after?
Best Regards,
Angel
