Hello,

The LMH6642MF/NOPB is used in almost all of our products. The op-amp is used in our constant current circuit where the output is driving a low side MOSFET.

Distributors are saying the part is "Last time buy" while TI website says it is "active" Is that correct?

We are looking at LMH6642QMF/ NOPB as an alternative but the recommended max supply rail is 10.8V but all our design have 12V supply. We would like to understand the impact if we go ahead with LMH6642QMF/ NOPB.

We are also looking at OPA863DBVR as another alternative. We would like to understand the difference between this part and the LMH6642MF to understand if it will fit our application.

Hi Nitish,

We currently have no plans to discontinue the LMH6642MF/NOPB, so that should still be orderable from distributors. Two things to note with that: the lead version of that part is being discontinued (LMH6642MF), but we will still offer the no lead version that you mentioned using in most of your products. Also, we will no longer be offering the tube carrier option, so you may be seeing a last time buy status if selecting this option. Instead we will be using tape and reel carrier.

As Michael mentioned, we do have an alternative to this device which is the OPA863 that has drop in replacement and better performance spec, aside from having a lower linear output current.

Hi Nitish,

The datasheet has an Absolute Maximum Rating of 13.5V supply voltage. Absolute Maximum Ratings indicate limits beyond which damage to the device may occur. Operating Ratings indicate conditions for which the device is intended to be functional, but specific performance is not ensured.

Therefore, the device will be functional operating at 12V supply, but specific performance can not be ensured.
