OPA2834: Humidity Specification

Part Number: OPA2834
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2356, OPA2310, TINA-TI, OPA356

Hi teams,

My customer has the following questions regarding OPA2834. Could you please give me an answer?

<Question 1>
Are there any specifications regarding humidity for OPA2834?

<Question 2>

They are concerned about input impedance for circuit operation. OPA2834 has the input resistance/input capacitance listed above. Regarding these values, do you have any data on temperature characteristics, humidity characteristics, and variations?

<Question 3>
They are considering three operational amplifiers: OPA2834, OPA2356, and OPA2310. When they downloaded the model from the website and used it for analysis with LTspice, the result was that only OPA2356 did not include Differential input impedance in the model. Is TI's model not compatible with LTspice?

Thank you for your help.

Taito Takemura

  • Hello Takemura-san,

    Answer 1: The OPA2834 has a Level 2 MSL rating.  This can be seen on the quality, reliability, and packaging information page: link.  For explanation and description of ratings, please see the attached file: MSL Ratings and Reflow Profiles .

    Answer 2: I do not have this data readily available.  Could you specify the temperature and humidity ranges for which your customer is interested?

    Answer 3: TI's models are designed for simulation with PSPICE ("Capture"), PSPICE for TI, and TINA-TI software applications.  There are existing threads which describe the possibility of editing TI models to work in other simulators.  I caution against editing TI models unless there is a good understanding of model architecture and SPICE.

    https://www.onethesis.com/how-to-create-an-ltspice-model-from-pspice-or-tina-ti-model/

    Please use these resources or search for your own methods for using TI models in SPICE simulators.  We recommend using PSPICE, PSPICE for TI, or TINA-TI for simulating TI devices.

    I will investigate the OPA2356 to see if differential input impedance is modelled.  Am I correct in understanding the OPA2834 and OPA2310 work as expected in SPICE simulation?

    When you use "enter macro" or "view model" in SPICE simulators, you can see at the top of the model what parameters are modelled.

    Please make sure you are using the most updated OPA356 models from TI.com, for either TINA-TI or PSPICE.

  • HI Alec,

    [Alec] Answer 2: I do not have this data readily available.  Could you specify the temperature and humidity ranges for which your customer is interested?

    - Operating temperature and humidity: +5℃~50℃ / 35%~85%RH (no condensation)

    - Storage temperature and humidity: -10℃~55℃ / 35%~85%RH (no condensation)

    Could you please give us any data on temperature characteristics, humidity characteristics, and variations under above conditions?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hello Takemura-san,

    I am out of office today & part of this week for TI holiday, but I will ask across my team about temperature and humidity characteristics.

  • Hello Takemura-san,

    We do not evaluate specific parameters for humidity characteristics & changes, we only have the moisture sensitivity level (MSL) rating: the OPA2834 is MSL-2.  A prior thread discusses this in more detail: https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers-group/amplifiers/f/amplifiers-forum/1036661/lmp7701-humidity-info

    I also provided the source document for understanding MSL ratings in my prior responses.

    For temperature variation of input impedance, I do not have data on temperature-dependence.  Generally the input impedance would vary with changes in frequency, not necessarily temperature.

    The input offset voltage, input offset current, and input bias current of OPA2834 do have temperature-related curves in the datasheet: Figures 34-36.
