AMC1311-Q1: question about writing MAX and MIN range in datasheet

Part Number: AMC1311-Q1

hi expert

taking TCVOS as an example,

There is a comment(1) in datasheet.

do we use one standard deviation (sigma) or six standard deviation (sigma) to describe these parameters?

  • Hi Jay,

Thank you for your question. Comment (1) is specifying that the TYP value range includes one standard deviation. The TCV_os typical value is a range of +/-3uV/C. This range includes values that are within one standard deviation. I believe the minimum and maximum are just the edge values of the parameter. I do not think the min and max are calculated using a mean and standard deviation if that is what you are asking.

Is there a reason you want to know how this range is defined? Please let me know.

    Best regards,
    Eva

  • hi expert

you can see AMC1311B TCV_os min and max value are shown in datasheet. as for MIN and MAX, are these calculated by using six  standard deviation?

  • Hi Jay,

The min and max values specified in the data sheet are tested values. You should never find a device with greater than the maximum TCV_os of 10 or less than the minimum TCV_os of -10. These values are not calculated using the standard deviation.

When you say six standard deviations, do you mean three in each direction? If so, and you are trying to determine whether 99.7% of the data are within the min and max, it is more than this. The min and max specify 100% of the values should fall in this range.

ok got it. I am wrong before.

i remember it seems like value in datasheet refer ±6sigma (6 sigma in each direction) data. is it right?

  • Hi Jay,

I don't know of a reference to ±6 sigma in the data sheet. Please let me know if you find what you were referring to or have any more questions!

    Best regards,
