Clemens is correct.
You can also usually tell if there's diodes going to the positive rail by looking at the absolute max rating in the datasheet and seeing the input common mode voltage range. If the range allows around 0.5V beyond the rails then it likely has ESD protection diodes to both supplies.

I have one more question. Can the Vbat be connected to the IN via a current limiting resistor?
Yes; a resistor can limit the current to a safe value. Please note that the current flowing into the supply should not be larger than the supply current used by all the devices connected to it, or the supply voltage might rise.
There are one or more decoupling capacitors on the power supply. If more current flows in than out, they will be charged.
