OPA551: Min and Max Operating Allowable Junction Temperature?

Part Number: OPA551

Hi all,

I am investigating the OPA551FAKTWT and am looking for the following parameters below. Note that I am not looking for the maximum allowable junction temperature, but for this intent and purpose I need to see what the operating junction temperature is without derating.

  • OPA551FAKTWT
    • Minimum operating allowable junction temperature
    • Maximum operating allowable junction temperature

Thank you

  • Filipe,

The absolute maximum table lists maximum operating and maximum junction temperature (section 6.1).  I think you are looking for an understanding of how the operating temperature is impacted by power dissipation.  The power dissipation on the die will cause self heating.  The die temperature is the junction temperature.  The self heating of the die will increase the junction temperature and limit the ambient temperature range that the device can operate over.  The amount of self heating can be calculated using the device thermal information (section 6.4), the device power dissipation, and your heat-sink information.  The TI Precision Labs Videos section on Power and Temperature covers the calculation.

I hope this helps!  Best regards, Art
