OPA2830:

Part Number: OPA2830
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA830

Hello, would you please be able to provide details as to the obsolescence of PN OPA2830IDGK? Was the PN replaced with another part?  When is the last time buy for this part?  What is the longevity?  Thank you, Vivian

  • Hi Vivian,

Let me look into this for you and I will get back to you as soon as I can with information.

    Best Regards,

    Ignacio

  • The absence of a T or R suffix indicates tube packaging. The OPA2830IDGKT would be the same chip packaged on a small reel; OPA2830IDGKR, large reel.

As far as I can see, the tube packaging option never existed for the OPA2830. If your records says that you ordered the "OPA2830IDGK", then those records are wrong.

  • Hey Clemens, that OPA830 family was released back in the 2004 timeframe and we always did tubes back then, so they could have ordered that at one tiime, but I am seeing those go away steadily in these older parts. The more critical question is whether the core die is going away?

  • But only the SOIC package was available in tubes.

    PDN 20230907001.3 says:

150- millimeter production will be shutdown in the current fab site.  TI will no longer support certain tube, small reel, temp variants, -E3/E4/G4 variants, SnPb plated, and semi-custom device.

So it looks as if the OPA2830IDGKR will be moved to 300 mm wafers. (I do not see a PCN for that.)

  • Well the fab shutting down is the core issue, linking that to certain (but not all) orderables is kind of an odd thing to say

  • Hi Michael and Clemens,

Thanks for reaching out about this. In the PDN notification it does point to the alternate part number the OPA2830IDGKR which as pointed out above denotes the large tape and reel version. The reason for this is to consolidate orderable part numbers down to a fewer number to streamline manufacturing.

The last date to order the old part number (OPA280IDKGT) will be September 7th 2024, however, we ask that you get any lifetime orders in place as quickly as possible to help the Fab plan for large quantities that are coming.

In regards to the replacement recommendation the OPA2830IDGKR will be being transferred to a new fab and there are no plans of obsolescence for that part going forward. The PCN moving the OPA2830IDGKR to a new fab has not been issued yet and is planned for later this year.

Hope that this helps you. If you have any further questions feel free to reach out to me.

    Thanks,

    Mark
