Hello,

I'm looking at the TLV1805 single sot23 comparator for a new design. Nice device but I'm a little concerned that

It does not share a common pinout with other similar comparators. No alternates in case of a shortage.

Pin 3 is -IN for the TLV1805. More commonly it's +IN for other comparators. So, at the TI website I looked for alternates that share the same pinout.

I was pointed to the TLV1811 (the page claimed "Newer Pin for Pin"). It does not have the same pinout as the TLV1805. The TLV1811 pin 3 is +IN.

Is the TLV1805 data sheet in error?

Hi Tony,

No, the pin-outs are correct.There are actually 5+ different SOT pinouts.... The "North-west", "South-east" (direction that the output points) and TL331 type pinouts are the most common. Always look at the inputs!

The TLV1805 has a "unique" pinout. It was done that way at customer request (I personally did not like it...). I even put a warning on the datasheet pinout that it was similar to another pinout, but the inputs are reversed.

The TLV1811 uses the more common "Northwest" pinout. That would have the better chance for alternatives. The TLV1805 has a slightly better output drive and faster, but otherwise functionally identical to the TLV1811 (minus the shutdown).
