TLV2401-Q1: Determining Supply Current

Part Number: TLV2401-Q1

Hello,

I am currently trying to choose an op amp with an input voltage of 5V-9V and a supply current of ~1uA. My question is with regards to the supply current, how is supply current defined because some datasheets in the general purpose op amps section specify a supply current while others don't, does it go under another name as well? Secondly would this part TLV2401-Q1 work for this use case?

  • Hey KJ,

Supply current is usually referred to as quiescent current in modern datasheets, and this is just the result of there not really being a standard format over the ~50 years of op amp development, so naming can shift. You can see this with multiple specs (PSRR used to be called Ksvr). TLV2401-Q1 will meet the spec typically, but the max current is about 40% above 1uA.

As of right now, the TLV2401-Q1 is the lowest quiescent current automotive amplifier we have. Generally, automotive applications do not have such strict current budgets, I'm curious to know what the end application is here.

    Best,
    Jerry
