INA240: Current Sensing for Inline Motor-Control Applications (SBOA172)

Part Number: INA240

Hello,

In the application report SBOA172, a couple of waveforms corresponding to the output response of the INA240 with respect to the input common-mode step change were provided. However, I have a small query with respect to those waveforms. When the step change is applied, dv/dt change is observed in both the rising and falling waveforms. In figure 5, the INA240 responds to both the rising and falling waveforms. However, in figure 8, the INA240 response is present corresponding to only the falling edge and not corresponding to the rising dv/dt. Why is that so?

The link to the application report is present here

Warm regards,

Siri

  • Hi Siri,

I think the most probable cause is that the slopes of the rising and falling edges are different. With slower rise time, the device doesn’t show obvious disturbances.

Figure 5 and 8 were taken with different drivers – Fig 5 with a GaN half-bridge, while Fig 8 with an older BJT based BLDC driver.

    Regards, Guang
