INA186-Q1: capacitively coupled amplifier

Part Number: INA186-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA190

Hi Expert,

I noticed that there have a capacitively coupled amplifier on the input side of INA186-Q1. Since this is used for current sensing, the current in customer's use-case is DC current. I don't quite understand how the DC go through the input series capacitor. May you help share some materials on introducing the principle capacitively coupled amplifier?

Thanks!

Ethan Wen

  • Hey Ethan,

The inside capacitive-coupled circuit of INA190 does not look as simple as shown in this illustration. In reality, the capacitors are being constantly charged and discharged to transfer charge (the signal) to the second stage, which is the difference amplifier.

The overall process of this switching is very complicated and can’t be shared in any straightforward way.

    Sincerely,

    Peter
