INA237: Is there a digital power monitor device for negative power?

Hi,

I am looking for a power monitoring device like digital power monitor for a -60V supply.

Does anyone know if TI has a digital power monitor solution for this kind application?

I've checked digital power monitor parts. They seems only work for positive supplies.

Hi Jeff,

We don’t have digital power monitors for -60V supply. However please follow this link to a -48V reference design. It can be easily adapted with some minor component adjustments.

Do you have the reference design board for sale? I'd like to get one for testing.

Also I noticed that INA226 has maximum common-mode voltage at 36V. But the monitored supply is -48V. How does it work with higher voltage?

Hi Jeff,

The INA226 is supplied by a shunt regulator and effectively works in low-side configuration (ground equals -48V). The -48V (now +48V relative to INA226 GND) is sensed through resistor divider R1/R2. With these two tricks, all the voltages seen by INA226 are within compliance.

You can refer to section 2 .1 for a more detailed discussion.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the board for sale.
