OPA657: Parametric Differences of OPA657N vs OPA657NB

Part Number: OPA657
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA818

Hi,

I see that the parametric differences between OPA657N and OPA657NB were omitted from the REV F. of the datasheet,

from what is seen in REV D. and E., and this change does not appear in the revision history of REV F.

Please explain why? It is not important? It does not matter?

Thank you,

Artem.

  • Hello Artem,

I am going to look into these revision history changes, as wells N vs NB orderable part number differences.

    Best,

    Alec

  • Hello Artem,

The OPA657NB High Grade DC Specifications are still present in the Rev F of the OPA657 datasheet.  These values can be found in section 7.6 on page 7.

I also would like to suggest the OPA818 for new designs, as the OPA657 is an older device.   The OPA818 has lower noise and a higher gain-bandwidth product than the OPA657.

The "NB" denotes the higher grade DC specifications, swapping out the "N" for the "NB" would only result in an improvement of the DC specs. (edited for clarity)

    Alec

  • Hi Alec,

Please explain your last sentence, why do you say "N" is an improvement, "NB" has almost twice smaller values then "N".

So I do not understand the "improvement", please explain/show why  "N" is improvement.

    Thank you,

    Artem

  • Hello Artem,

I have used a typo there.  The correct statement is: "The "NB" denotes the higher grade DC specifications, swapping out the "N" for the "NB" would result in an improvement of the DC specs."

AC specs are not different across the device orderables in the same package.

    Best,

    Alec
