OPA657: Alternative needed

Part Number: OPA657
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA818

Until today we used in our production part "OPA657NB" - we would like to know if "OPA657N" is the same part with exactly the same parameters? Meaning FFF?

For what stands the "B'?

Second question - I see you propose as Alternate another TI part number for both "OPA657NB" and "OPA657N". Is this alternate FFF?

Thanks for letting me know - this is urgent.

  • Well David, 1st of all there is a newer upgrade to this very old device,

Then, the B version is a graded better input offset voltage and drift device, same pinout,

This spec table applies to the B suffix device,

  • Hello David,

Michael is absolutely correct with his response; you will observe a net improvement to DC specs with the "NB" device over the "N" device.  No other specs were adjusted or improved to the device.  This difference does not affect AC specs.

The OPA818 is our recommendation for new designs.  While the OPA818 is not a drop-in replacement due to a package and pinout change, the OPA818 is a smaller package and would improve solution size on PCBs from the SOIC (D) package.

If you would like help or an analysis of your schematic and PCB to design-in the OPA818, please let me know so I can assist you.

    Best,

    Alec
