LMH6703: Differential to single-ended amplifier

Part Number: LMH6703
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA695

HI everyone!

I would be happy if you take a time and answer these questions :100

Currently have a testing requirement for an HCSL differential CLK IC. Below are the key parameters:

  • Frequency: 100MHz
  • Rise/Fall Time: 340ps
  • Output High Voltage: 0.7V
  • Output Low Voltage: 0V
  • Output Differential Voltage: 1.4V

Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a suitable differential to single-ended amplifier while sourcing components.

At present, the only available power supplies on board are +3.3V and -1.2 to -2.5V.

Could you recommend an appropriate IC that would meet these requirements?

The requirement includes Slew Rate  > 4000 V/us (1.4v /340ps)

Additionally, I'm currently using a LMH6703C as setup in simulations. Is there a better design approach that you could suggest? Thank you.

  • Hi Frank,

Unfortunately, there are not many options in our current portfolio to fit your needs perfectly. This would likely have to be designed as a discrete solution like the circuit you shared as we do not have any integrated solutions that would work. The other parameter that limits the design is the supply constraint. The LMH6703 requires a minimum supply of +-4V. I attached a list of devices that have the bandwidth and slew rate requirement needed that work with a +-2.5V supply. The OPA695 could work in your design as it meets most of the specs you listed. I would also like to add that the model for this device is somewhat inaccurate at the lower gains.
