TLV4113: TLV4113 THD+N ?

Dear Sir,

I am looking into the THD+N in Figure 16 on page 10 of the data sheet.

My headphone is specified at 16 ohm impedance, I attend to use TLV4113 as a headphone drive, however, the THD+N only shows THD+N at 100 ohm load.

Is there any reference THD+N (at 16 ohm) for me in this applications ?

Hey SG,

We don't have additional information for the TLV4113 outside of what is provided in the product datasheet. Have you considered one of our modern devices for headphone drive such as the OPA1622 or INA1620? We have information for THD+N shown in these product datasheets. If you need more current we have an app note showing how to achieve this along with THD+N measurements.

Thanks for your response.

Your suggested parts are very impresive and performs excellent THD+N, I may consider them in future.

Due to budget, I still focus on TLV4113 now and I hope it performs good.

Hi SG,

The TLV4113 has great output current drive capability and is well suited for driving headphones. One quick way to get an idea if the THD is low on a device is to look at the Aol specification as I outline on page 6 here:

Hi Chris,

I just noticed that the TLV4113 is working on a single power supply. If I use 5V, I may bias the output at 2.5Vdc for maximum output. However, the DC blocking capacitor and headphones resistor forms a HPF, as you can see below, the frequency content <452Hz will be filtered out. I am not very sure if I have overlooked somethings, let me know your comments. Thank you again.

Hey SG,

You can use a higher value cap to bring the low corner cutoff frequency down lower. 200 uF will allow frequencies above 50 Hz to pass for example.
