TLV3601: Looking for ultra Low Jitter Comparator

Part Number: TLV3601
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TLV3801

Hi:

Looking for a comparator with low additive jitter (less than 0.2ps @100MHz 12khz - 20MHz)

that can convert the sine wave around 10MHZ into a square wave for driving

a clock chip that has a limit on the input signal slew rate to maximize the clock chip jitter performance.

Thanks!

  • Hi Applo,

The TLV3601 has an RMS jitter spec of 4ps at the 10Hz - 50MHz bandwidth. Please give me a few days so I can work on the bench to take a look at the additive jitter in the bandwidth that you want. I'll update this post once I get it.

    Regards,

    Ho

  • Hi HO SIU:

Thank you very much, waiting for your good news。

    Thanks!

  • Hi Applo,

I've acquired jitter measurements using two separate TLV3601EVM boards to ensure consistent results. Unfortunately, the additive jitter in the 12kHz-20MHz band seems to be around 2ps, which is above your 0.2ps requirement. I've also included results from the 10Hz-40MHz (spectrum analyzer cuts off at 40MHz with carrier frequency of 100MHz).

We've recently taken a look at TLV3801 (LVDS output) jitter, and that device does perform better in terms of additive jitter, but TLV3801 does not clear the spec of <0.2ps additive jitter either.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Below is the Excel sheet of the measurements.
