Hi,

I am planning to use the INA238 for power monitoring at output of charger.

Charger can provide output upto 120V and 100A.

For VBUS voltage sense, I am using a resistor divider to bring the voltage on VBUS pin below 85V.

But for the current sense, where our CM voltage will be higher than 85V, can I still connect the 120V to IN+ and IN- pin ?

What reliability impact should i consider if i go ahead with this design ?

Hi Yash,

Using a voltage divider on the VBUS pin to get below 85V should work fine, but it may add some error to your measurement. Exceeding the Vcm would break the device even when connected to IN+ and IN-. The absolute maximum of the device on Vcm is -0.3V to 85V:

I am planning to place shunt resistor on negative side to avoid CM voltage issue.
