USB2ANY: USB2ANY connection failure

Part Number: USB2ANY

Hi,

I recently purchased 3 USB2ANY devices, but unfortunately one of them did not connect after a while.

Although sales recommended purchasing from Mouser because the TI Store delivery period was 30 weeks.

However, since it was not purchased through the TI Store, it is said that after-sales service is not available.

So, I have a few questions for you.

USB2ANY was not connected, so when I measured the internals, it appears that the SDA Line of the MCU IC was damaged, and the MCU IC was shorted to GND internally.

Question 1) We are guessing that the MCU (MSP430F5529IPNR) is defective. I am wondering if I can receive a sample of the Programmed MCU for GUI communication.

Question 2) If you cannot provide us with a Programmed MCU, I wonder if there is a way for us to write it ourselves after receiving an Unprogrammed MCU sample. (Is this solved by just replacing the MCU?)

Question 3) When operating ULC GUI, I am curious if it is possible to operate even if I do not use USB2ANY and use another company's USB to I2C module.

Best regards,

junoh Lee

  • Hi Junoh,

You can go to the product folder to order samples. www.ti.com/.../MSP430F5529

The samples will come with empty firmware, go to https://www.ti.com/tool/USB2ANY and download Firmware Loader to a folder in your hard drive.

Copy below dll file to the same folder.

    https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/14/USB2ANY_5F00_2_5F00_7_5F00_0_5F00_0.dll

    Copy USB2ANY_2_7_0_0.txt to c:\Program Files (x86)\TI USB2ANY SDK\Firmware

    USB2ANY_2_7_0_0.txt

The firmware you've just installed is an old firmware. Depending on which TI product GUI you are using, a newer version firmware may be required.

Connect the dongle to the PC.

Run the GUI, it should ask for a firmware update.

Follow the onscreen instruction to complete firmware update.

For question 3, please check with the ULC team, they are the right person to ask.
