INA302: Using INA302 to control gate driver during Short Circuit event

Thank you for providing all of this information in advance. Your schematic actually looks good. It looks like all of the datasheet recommendations including the input filter were implemented correctly.

Please just be aware of the error introduced by the input filter:

Please also take a look at Current Shunt Amplifier Considerations for Driving SAR ADCs if the output of the INA302 is driving a SAR ADC.

If so, you may have to implement a charge bucket filter like the one from the considerations app note:

Thanks for the indepth explanation regarding the filter considerations.

We'll implement the same as per your suggestions.

One more clarification we needed was regarding the Out of range limit setting using Rlimit resistors.

We want to set both alert1 and alert2 at the same out of range detect condition. Is it fine to do so?

And is the Switching logic using the AND gate going to work as expected?

Or are there any more considerations when doing so.

Hi Ibrahim,

It is okay to set the same limit, however (from my outside perspective) this is redundant, and you should expect to see the same response from both internal comparators on the ALERT pins. 

I do not see your and gate in the schematic but you can drive an and gate with the alert pins without an issue.

Thanks for your feedback.

I would like to know more on the charge bucket filter which you mentioned when using SAR based ADC.

As the opamp output is single ended, the reference block shared by you shows the filter being connected to two pins on the ADC.

One is the Opamp output and the other pin is connected where is what I would like to know.
