TL074-EP: Short-Circuit Current

Part Number: TL074-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL074

Tool/software:

In the TL07xH d/s, it specifics the short-circuit current as +/-26mA. However, we don't see it for TL074QDREP?

Could you help on this!

Regards

Brian

  • Neither the TL074 nor the TL074-EP have a specified short-circuit current. (You could estimate it from figure 8.)

The TH074H does not have an -EP version.

  • Hey Brian,

Per the schematic, there is a resistive output that will generate a "current limit". There will be an V=IR drop across the output stage as the output current increases. Therefore, the output voltage over output current does not have the same behavior as modern op amps where output voltage will drop off sharply at a specified current. Eventually, the V=IR drop over the output resistors will be too great for the output transistors to have enough Vce and the output will no longer be able to drive to the specified output voltage.

    Best,
    Jerry
